Dr. Lalitha Chalasani is a primary care physician specialized in internal medicine. She received her medical training in India and completed her internal medicine residency in South Field, MI. She migrated to the USA in 1992 and has been in practice in Baton Rouge since 1999.
Due to her Indian background, Dr. Chalasani was exposed to various natural healing therapies and practices including that of Ayurvedic medicine and Indian folk remedies – many of which are now proven to be clinically effective in treating literally hundreds of disorders. As part of her treatment, Dr. Chalasani employs many natural practices into her protocols and has done so successfully in conditions such as Diabetes, Hypertension, Insomnia, chronic constipation, skin disorders and many other illnesses.
Her approach to treatment is along the lines of integrative medicine – using both natural methods together with standard allopathic treatment to not only relieve the patients’ symptoms, but to improve their overall health and well-being. Her strong passion for natural medicine has even led to her to open a wellness center in Baton Rouge, known as Aathma (meaning “soul”), where she uses Yoga, meditation, Ayurvedic medicine, and massage to improve health and wellness in patients suffering from chronic and “difficult to treat” illnesses as well as those suffering from chronic stress.
Dr. Chalasani firmly believes that the body has an innate capacity to heal itself when supported with the proper nutrition and lifestyle habits. With this in mind, she has recently received training in Mindfulness-based stress reduction, Yoga and Functional Medicine, an integrative approach system that encompasses nutrition and herbal supplementation, to better serve the community with superior medical service.
